Equipment
For the Beginner
If you’re new to bowls, in the early stages you won’t have to buy a set of bowls as the club can provide bowls for any taster sessions in which you might participate. The only necessary pre-requisite is that you wear a pair of flat soled shoes.
For the New Bowler
Should you decide to become a member you will need a set of bowls and a pair of bowling shoes. Once you’ve decided on the bowls that best suit you there are plenty of routes by which you can purchase a set of good quality second-hand bowls.
Bowls
Each set of bowls has four identical bowls. They come in a range of sizes and colours. As well as the size and colour of the bowls you also have to consider the bias of your bowls. Bowls are produced by a number of different manufacturers so there is plenty of choice. In addition to your bowls you’ll find it useful to purchase a bowls carrier.
Shoes
Bowling shoes come in a variety of styles and are provided by a number of manufacturers. They’re main purpose is to protect the bowling green, therefore the main features are that they have a flat sole and no heel.
Bowls Carrier
A bowls carrier is a good thing to have. These come in many different models and are an easy way to carry your bowls.
Spray Chalk
The chalk is used to mark a bowl that has touched the jack.
Measure
The measure is used to decide which bowl is closest to the jack.
